Project Eaglestar

The itinerary of the RV Eaglestar research vessel is changed mid-journey. The consequences of this new directive prove far wider reaching than Ben and his student companions could have anticipated. It involved traversing mainland Antarctica rather than carry out the sea-borne operation they signed up for. They were to be based at the British Antarctic Survey ice station, Halley VII, assisting the scientists there with their latest discovery.
Amidst sabotage, intimidation, government interventions and existential threat, there was still the need to continue scientific observations on an exposed ice shelf at the north eastern edge of the continent.
 
What was the significance of the discovery under the ice? To what lengths will Russian and Argentinian forces go in order to halt the research? The full story slowly emerges, but not before the onset of military intervention; and not before Ben has to ride the storm of suspicion that he himself is an infiltrator and mole on the vessel.
